tion by the Senate, says:
The adjournment resolution came
finally from the republican Senate, as
the democratic House had hoped it
• would. To be sure the amendment
• providing lor a final adjournment on
Saturday was offered by a democrat,
and a majority of the republicans
voted against it, while a majority of
• „ the democrats voted for it, but th
recess resolution which Mr. Allison
brought forward on behalf of the
republicans and which as amended
was adopted, was tantamount to a
proposition lor final adjournment.
It would have left oniy twelve work
ing days between Saturday and the
.first Monday in December, wheh
congress will assemble for the second
session. The democrats refused to
participate in the attempt to humbug

Bishop Duncan is quoted as say

Duncan’s statement about property
